Dr. Paul conducts comprehensive neuropsychological and psychoeducational evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults. Every evaluation is designed to identify not only challenges but also strengths, providing individuals and families with a complete picture and a clear path forward.
Every evaluation begins with your specific concerns and questions. Dr. Paul takes the time to understand what you need to know before any testing begins, so that the process is focused, efficient, and directly relevant to your situation.
The feedback process is designed to make sure you walk away with genuine understanding and concrete, usable recommendations written in clear, accessible language. Dr. Paul focuses on the whole person, identifying strengths just as carefully as challenges. The goal is always a complete profile that families, schools, and treatment providers can act on with confidence.
Dr. Paul offers two primary types of evaluation, each designed to address different referral concerns. In many cases, elements of both are integrated into a single comprehensive assessment.
A comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation assesses cognitive, behavioral, and emotional functioning to understand how an individual thinks, learns, and processes information. These evaluations are typically sought when there are concerns about development, attention, learning, behavior, social functioning, or the cognitive impact of a medical or neurological condition.
A psychoeducational evaluation focuses on the relationship between cognitive abilities and academic achievement. It is often used to identify specific learning disabilities, determine eligibility for accommodations and services, or clarify why a student is struggling despite adequate effort and support.
Evaluations are tailored to the referral question. Depending on the individual's needs, assessment may cover some or all of the following domains.
Overall intellectual functioning, reasoning, and problem-solving capacity.
Sustained focus, planning, organization, impulse control, and working memory.
Reading, writing, and mathematics achievement relative to ability and grade expectations.
Receptive and expressive language, verbal fluency, and communication skills.
How information is encoded, retained, and retrieved across verbal and visual modalities.
Emotional regulation, behavioral patterns, social skills, and psychological well-being.
Visual-motor integration, fine motor coordination, and sensory processing.
Daily living skills, independence, and functional abilities relative to age.
Dr. Paul guides families through every step of the evaluation process, from the initial conversation through the final report.
A conversation to understand your concerns, review relevant history, and determine whether an evaluation is the right next step.
A thorough review of developmental, medical, educational, and family history. Collateral information from schools, therapists, and physicians is integrated as needed.
Assessments are administered across one or more sessions, tailored to the referral question and the individual's stamina and needs.
Results are shared in a dedicated feedback session. A comprehensive written report follows with clear findings and actionable recommendations for families, schools, and clinicians.
For children and adolescents, evaluation results often have direct implications for their educational experience. Dr. Paul works with families to ensure findings are communicated clearly to schools and can support the development of 504 Plans, IEPs, and classroom accommodations.
She is available to consult with educators and participate in school meetings when needed, helping bridge the gap between clinical findings and practical classroom strategies.
